The current date is automatically inserted

The article is set to a temporary article - choose Live if you wish to set the page live immediately

Enter The title of the page - Make your title as descriptive as possible

Enter a Description - The description is searched by the site search engine and is displayed by many search engines as the page description

Enter Keywords - Keywords are searched by the site search engine - Keywords are used by some search engines

Select a Category from the drop down list or enter a new category for this article

Select a template from the list

Country - This selection is used when creating different translations of an article

Provide a Filename - Filenames are used to make a visitors experience easier - example filenames are: index.html, quickaccess, documents/covers/imperialcover. Do not use special characters in filenames. Spaces are permitted. Directory structures can be simulated by using a /
Filenames can be used to access an article in the articles listings.
When a filename is used users can access the article using human readable filenames as above - the URL for these would be as follows:
  • index.html - http://www.mydomainname/index.html
  • quickaccess - http://www.mydomainname/quickaccess
  • documents/covers/imperialcover - http://www.mydomainname/documents/covers/imperialcover
Require payment: Check this box if you require the user to make a payment prior to accessing the article

Price - Enter the value the user will pay to access this article (Note: You must have an account setup for this with IBD prior to use)

Show Read Permissions - Read permissions are used to enforce a username and password login to access this article. Select any number of individuals or select any number of Groups

Show Write Permissions - Write permissions are used to enforce control over who may edit this article. A selected user must have access enabled (Under Edit user select the "Can Create" option for this user). Select any number of individuals or select any number of Groups

Show Delete Permissions - Write permissions are used to enforce control over who may edit this article. A selected user must have access enabled (Under Edit user select the "Can Create" option for this user). Select any number of individuals or select any number of Groups

Enter the content for your article - Here you may upload images, PDFs, link to other pages and format the article.

Click to Save the article

Saving as a Temporary article - Temporary articles are most often used for proofing and approval prior to publication. A temporary article can be viewed from the public site. A temporary article URL uses the word articleTemp to identify a temporary article. ttp://www.mydomain.com.au/index.php?action=articleTemp&id=24

Saving a temporary article as a Live article - open the article to edit, select Live and click save. The temporary article is removed and will no longer be accessible, a live article will be created and will be immediately available in the public site. This Live article will be available in category listings, site map and will be able to be searched via the site serach tool.

Saving as a New article - Saving as a new article creates a copy of the existing article and saves this as a temporary article. You may make changes to any area of the current article which is open for editing these changes will be saved to the new article whilst the current article will revert to its original content upon save.

Click the print icon to print the contents only of the saved article

The Find icon presents a dialogue box which will permit you to search for particular words or to replace words. The Find dialogue box offers the ability to run a case sensitive search or search and replace

The PasteWord icon offers a dialogue box which will attempt to clean the HTML generated by Microsoft Word as Word does not create true validated HTML. The content from a Word document if pasted directly into the ProActive editor may cause the page to display differently on different browsers.

Click to undo the last action. The ability of the Undo function is determined by the capability of the users own system.

Click to redo the last action. The ability of the Redo function is determined by the capability of the users own system.

The Insert table icon provides a dialogue box for a new table - make your selections and click OK

The Edit Table icon provides the options to edit the currently selected table, the current table row and the current table cell.
Many of these options are available directly in the editor by selecting a table cell and right clicking the mouse - Table properties can be accessed via the right mouse button - select a cell and right click - cells can be deleted by clicking the control button as well as resized by dragging the displayed handles.

Insert a table row - select a cell in a current table, click the Insert a table row icon to insert a new row below the current selection

Delete a table row - Select a cell in a current table, click the Delete a table row icon to remove the currently selected row

Insert a column - Select a cell in a current table, click the Insert a Column icon - Offers a dialogue box offering the choice of where to insert the column

Merge a cell - Select a cell in a current table, click the Insert a Merge a cell icon - Offers a dialogue box offering the choice of where to merge the cells

Unmerge a cell - Select the cells to unmerge, click the Unmerge icon

Insert/Edit Image - Locate the cursor where you wish the image to be inserted, click the Insert Image icon. Offers a dialogue box which permits the uploading of images from your computer to the web server. We recommend that users create directories and locate images in those directories - this provides for good housekeeping and ease of use by other editors as well as making the image dialogue box perform faster as many hundreds of images in the images root directory will affect performance due to bandwidth requirements. Images must be JPG GIF or PNG format, smaller than 250kb with dimensions less than 1024 X 768. Select an image to display a preview. - choose next... to make a number of fine adjustments to the image and its presentation such as image flow, distance to surrounding text, border, width, height and title elements. Images may be renamed or deleted. CAUTION should be used when renaming or deleting an image as this may leave other pages with broken images - use the search facility found under Edit Article to check if an image to be renamed or deleted exists on other pages (note this search facility searches both Live and temporary articles)

Insert an emoticon - provides a dialogue box to select the appropriate emoticon

Insert a rule - position the cursor to where you wish the rule to be inserted. The dialogue box offers alignment, height, width and colour options

Provides a dialogue box offering a wide range of options for linking. You may link to places on your website. Places within the document, Email address or a web location.
All live articles are listed by displaying the article filename or article ID and the article title - click an article to see a preview. You may direct the article to be opened in the same window or a new window

Link to a document or upload a document. Locate the cursor where you wish the document link to be inserted, click the Insert Document icon. Offers a dialogue box which permits the uploading of documents from your computer to the web server. We recommend that users create directories and locate documents in those directories - this provides for good housekeeping and ease of use by other editors as well as making the document dialogue box perform faster as many hundreds of document in the document root directory will affect performance due to bandwidth requirements. Documents must be smaller than 25000kb. Select an document to display a preview. CAUTION should be used when renaming or deleting an document as this may leave other pages with broken document links - use the search facility found under Edit Article to check if an document to be renamed or deleted exists on other pages (note this search facility searches both Live and temporary articles).
Setting a Referer link: A Referer link allows you to track when a link has been clicked. They are also useful for tracking external links to your site. A Referer link is created by simply adding ref=myreferlink (replace myreferlink with your own text - do not use spaces or special characters). If the URL already has a ? (http://www.proactivecms.com/index.php?id=59) the refer link is added by appending &ref=myreferlink: http://www.proactivecms.com/index.php?id=59&ref=myreferlink. Refer links are displayed in the refer statistics

Bookmark link - Locate the cursor where you wish to aim to. Enter a name for this bookmark. The bookmark icon will be displayed in the editor only. To link to this bookmark target select an image or text, click , select "Places in this document". A list of all bookmarks will be displayed. You may add a title for the selected bookmark. Select the bookmark and click OK.

Insert special characters - Locate the cursor and click the Special Characters icon, a listing of available special characters will be displayed for you to choose from

Format - Displays the standard HTML heading options - the actual display properties for these are determined by the setting in your style sheet of the appropriate template

Font - Offers standard web fonts. The selection "Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" will cause the users browser to firstly seek the Verdana font, if it fails to find this it will then seek Arial etc until it either finds the font or displays the default sans-serif font

Size - Offers the standard set of browser based font sizes

Bold - Select the text to set to Bold. Click the Bold icon. To deselect already bolded text, select the area to remove the bolding, click the Bold icon

Italic - Select the text to set to Italic. Click the Italic icon. To deselect already Italicised text, select the area to remove the Italics, click the Italic icon

Underline - Select the text to set to Underline. Click the Underline icon. To deselect already Underlined text, select the area to remove the Underline, click the Underline icon

Left alignment. - Select the text to set to Left alignment. Click the Left alignment. icon. To deselect already Left aligned text, select the area to remove the Left alignment., click the Left alignment. icon

Center alignment. - Select the text to set to Center alignment. Click the Center alignment. icon. To deselect already Center aligned text, select the area to remove the Center alignment., click the Center alignment. icon

Right alignment. - Select the text to set to Right alignment. Click the Right alignment. icon. To deselect already Right aligned text, select the area to remove the Right alignment., click the Right alignment. icon

Justify alignment. - Select the text to set to Justify alignment. Click the Justify alignment. icon. To deselect already Justify aligned text, select the area to remove the Justify alignment., click the Justify alignment. icon
